blender (garden) party

we finally figured out what to do with our:
cucumbers
tomatoes
spicy peppers
bell peppers
(and store bought garlic, onion)

GAZPACHO OF COURSE!

uses of a cucumber...

our first heirloom tomato!

the new cutting board was pulled out for this...the mirror really is a useful object.

taste test! which one was better you ask? The smaller one had more of a crunch. The larger one had a more juice core and larger seeds...refrigeration may have helped the larger one out, but we couldn't wait that long!

harvest

our "sunflowers" grew into these!

the "vine-porch" which increases privacy as the vines grow up the strings and along the fence

First cucumbers!! (this was a long time ago...)

Go bees, go!

Surprise!

Reluctant to turn down any plants that looked like they might live, Ingrid and I planted eight butternut squash plants despite secretly hoping to be surprised with zucchini and/or summer squashes. You can imagine our shock when some of the plants turned out to be cucumbers, and now we've discovered that we also have acorn squashes and a crazy (delicious) yellow striped cucumber!
